How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?
Challenges are part and parcel of our life. We face challenges when we are out of our comfort zone and I strongly believe that life starts at the end of our comfort zone. Overcoming challenges will help us to become better persons.
During my working days in Indian Overseas Bank, I was posted in Tamilnadu where I did not know the regional language. As a banker, being in a service industry, communication with customers is a major part of my job nature and initially, I found it difficult to converse in the regional language. But later with an objective to provide better service to customers I took it as a challenge and learned the regional language and successfully overcame the language barrier.
Soon after, a major IT migration took place in our organization. Since the new software was entirely different from the existing software, even experienced employees in the bank found it to be difficult. I took responsibility in learning the new software by working extra time. In the process I took the lead in solving technological problems using my analytical skills, ensuring smooth running of the branch operations.
Later with an aim to enter into one of the reputed B schools in India, I started preparing for CAT. Being a branch manager in a bank and working in a high-stress environment, preparing for CAT seemed like a daunting task. But to achieve my goal, I changed my lifestyle and started doing exercise which helped me to manage my stress level. Besides, I created a time-table and planned my day in advance which made me more efficient. All these changes made me reach my objective of doing MBA in a prestigious B-school.
