Recently, there was a new advertisement from Allen Solly in which a group of girls elegantly dressed in formals are shown to be playing cricket at a modern office and while the decision is left to the umpire, to everyone’s surprise, a stag(read umpire) comes in and nods its head to declare a ‘not out’! I was mind-blown by how impressively a brand could personify its logo and explain the concept of ‘Fun at Work’. I happened to search the other ads of Allen Solly and realized that all of its ad campaigns were to imbibe new work culture in Indian professionals while making them look seamlessly poised.
When I googled more, I was surprised to find out that Allen Solly is an Indian brand that comes under ‘Aditya Birla Group’, and all this while I had presumed that ABG was all about Ultra Tech cement. That's when I realized that right from Idea, Vodafone to Fresh wrap to the shopping destinations like Pantaloons, Forever 21, Van Heusen, Peter England, all come under the big banner of ABG group. The fact is that the conglomerate is so huge and the list of products and services is so non-exhaustive that we might be using an ABG product without even knowing about it. It has also been working towards creating sustainability for a greener, cleaner and healthier future
While maintaining the best quality, the group has successfully established itself across 35 countries and generates a major part of their revenues from the international market thus carrying the brand of India to foreign cities. The company has put itself in the league of the Fortune 500 with sheer efforts and hard work. The impact created by ABG in everyone’s life is big and it will continue to get bigger.
HOW I HAVE HANDLED CHALLENGES
The challenge for me was to get back after hitting rock bottom in my life. Being a pampered single kid, I had no idea about what a real world looks like. After completing my under-graduation, I had to move to different places in the country for my higher education and job opportunities. I saw a large number of failures while trying to cope up with the studies and extra-curricular amongst the best mob in one of the premier graduation institutes. Since I was a kid, I had always been surrounded by competition, and so dealing with it was never a challenge, but owning the responsibility of failure surely was. This time had me question my abilities and potential. I ended my B.Tech with ample knowledge and a decent job, but with very little satisfaction.
The urge of getting back to being the enthu-cutlet that I had always been was very dominant after my B.Tech. Very fortunately, the organization that I worked for gave me many chances of coming up with new ideas, trying my hand at managing events on a larger scale, volunteering activities and gaining technical knowledge at the same time. I got introduced to people from other job profiles and through my multifaceted discussions, I could finally discover my field of interest. I attempted CAT which opened the gateways for me to get into Faculty of Management Studies which is one of the best B-schools in India. I definitely feel proud to mention that I could be a part of this premier institute, but more importantly, I’ve gained back the confidence in myself.
