Pantaloons, the one-stop-shopping destination for me since my college days. As a student, I had to keep a check on the cost and also be trendy. A tradeoff was the most essential part. And Pantaloons provided exactly that. The clothes were of reasonable rate and also very classy. Talking about the business formals, Van Heusen and Allen Solly were the only brands that I trusted.
The Freshpakk semi-rigid containers which are available in the market had made my life much easier on my journey by train. On a long 2 day journey, while going to college from Ranchi to Jaipur, I made my mom pack the food items in the Freshpakk containers.
These are the things that have made me connected to the Aditya Birla Group. But one of the most important things which are the biggest of all the reasons is its CSR activities. Its distribution of solar lamps to school children, mid-day meals for 63000 students, operating 56 schools all over India, 5000 medical camps, 20 hospitals, and many more are just a glimpse of what they do. This has deepened my trust in the brand and I feel a sense of connectedness because of my involvement in the National Social Scheme program during my college days. Thanks, Aditya Birla Group for being a part of my life!!
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
As the adage goes "Where there is a will, there is a way". In times of misfortune, we often forget to hold on and lose out on most of the things. It has been rightly said by Martin Ginis "Will Power is like a muscle; it needs to be challenged to build itself". Will power is the major thing that keeps us going. But I learned it the hard way.
It was the time two months before my semester exams in the third year, due to severe calcium deficiency I had some spine problems. The doctor recommended me 2 months of bed rest since I was not able to sit for more than 10 minutes. The news shocked me as I had my exams coming up and I was not prepared for it.
But even after that, I studied on my own lying on a bed or with the help of back support. I didn't give up. And the results, I was among the top 5 in my class.
My friends were surprised as to how I was able to make it even though I didn't attend classes. The reason why I was calm and composed all the time was due to an incident that happened during my 12th class. Many people go to kota for engineering coaching, I also did but in the 12th standard. With a firm determination to crack IIT, I forgot about health. The result, I was diagnosed with jaundice. I became very weak and couldn’t attend classes for 4 months. I went back to my hometown and returned after 4 months and also had to cook food on my own. Since that was the first time I had experienced such a thing, I was not able to handle it and failed in most of the entrance exams.
But the lesson I learned was very valuable. It taught me that even during the times of hardships we should be calm and never stop doing what we are supposed to do because we can overcome anything in life if we have strong willpower. It can do miracles.
