Part B:
I am currently pursuing my MBA at DMS, IIT Delhi. I have a prior work experience of 25 months in IT field. I have come across good number of challenges both in my student life and work life. In this context I would like to share one such prominent challenge at my work place and the other as a student preparing for the coveted CAT examination.
Soon after my engineering I was recruited into an IT firm in a team of three. I had just began to understand the product when my team lead was asked to leave on a short notice. This happened while my direct senior had also resigned and was serving the notice period. Being a novice, I was de-motivated for a couple of days as I was going to left with no mentor and training. But then I realized the only thing I could do is to gain as much knowledge as possible from my senior before he/ she left the firm. So, I started preparing a set of questions every day for which I reached out to my senior for an appropriate solution/ reasoning. This way, without any hiccup I came out of the difficult situation and grew to a position wherein I was given the responsibility for taking sessions for the new joiners. This is the reason why I believe that – Hardships always get the best out of us.
As I grew in my job I had decided to upgrade my technical skills by doing an MBA. Managing the preparation for CAT exam along with a hectic workload was a challenge – both mentally and practically. I devoted all my weekends (as I was working in the weekdays) for CAT preparation since March 2017. Though, I didn’t do that well in the mocks – I knew that the only way for me to ‘Bell the CAT’ was to be consistent with my preparation. In addition to my weekend studies, I managed to squeeze in preparation along my travel journeys to and fro office. A month before the preparation – I deactivated my social media accounts (FB, Insta) as I was ending up spending a lot of time online. This helped me to focus on the preparation even better. With a proper schedule in hand along with work, I made time for preparation in the weekdays too.
Today, here I am, writing down this article as a proud student of IIT Delhi. If I could do it, I am sure anyone can do it.
