To give a sneak into it and set the backdrop, I grew up in a town, in Madhya Pradesh, called Satna, with not more than 0.5M population - a city that is not known-to-many and can be classified as a tier-2 city. What Aditya Birla Group means to the people of the Satna District can only be understood, if someone has been to the place or gets to have a conversation with the local population. Aditya Birla Group with its establishment of Birla Cement Manufacturing sites is no-less than a lifeline for the masses. Be it Providing employment to a significant population, be it providing the commute facilities to a large section, be it establishing a small world within the city of its own, with all the facilities taken care of - from Quality Education to Affordable Premium Healthcare, Aditya Birla Group touches lives in reasons more than one. As a child, the impact of the same felt to me was huge.
Fast forwarding it to today, being an MBA Candidate and already having spent two years in the corporate, Aditya Birla Group's Retail and Fashion Offerings have become my go-to brands, as an all-solutions stops. With a range of offerings in Louis Phillipe, Allen Solley and Van Heusen, ABG has catered to the needs of all kinds - from pulling off the casual looks in parties or donning the Professional attire at work. No wonder, the brands have now been a popular household name for a long time.
To sum it up, it is only an understatement to say that ABG has been a part and parcel of the lives of the Indian Consumers - the masses or a selected section.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambition in life so far?
'Hard work beats talent, when talent does not work hard', 'There is no more common thing than unrealised potentials/men with wasted talents' had been the quotes that resonated more frequently than not, till few years after I had failed to clear the IIT JEE Entrance Examinations. In hindsight, when I see to it, that phase has only taught me to value the importance of hard-work and perseverance, especially when the competition gets as fierce as in the competitive examinations in India.
Down the line, over one year into my corporate job with an amazing organization, where I had used my time to develop leadership skills along with the technical competences, it was time for me to take another step in my professional journey. To overcome the challenges that I was to face, I fell back on the learnings from my failures, the failure of not clearing the JEE Entrances. This time, though, for the CAT Examination, I was more ready than I was ever before. However, the journey wasn't as smooth as it sounds on an article. It meant overcoming setbacks, and also being able to manage time for both study and work. Second year of my job meant that I had to work in overtime shifts, and own the projects allotted to me with utmost responsibility. What entailed was working till late hours at office and following up with another few hours of preparation for CAT. If that called for staying back at office and studying for CAT after work, post 9 PM, at times, so be it. In short, to face the challenges that I have faced in life so far or will face in the future, I have liked the idea of falling back to my own short-comings. An individual is only as smart as how he well he really understands his weaknesses/strengths.
With the hope for a better future and with the pride in how far I have come, I am determined to overcoming the newer challenges and keep learning and improving.
