Obstacles are Just an Illusion. How I overcame mine.
“Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” This is a famous quote by one of the best professional basketball players Michael Jordan. He rightly points out that we do come across hurdles, but these should not discourage us or stop us on our journey to achieving our goals.
My journey to get into one of the best B-schools was also filled with such obstacles. While I was preparing for CAT, I was working in rotating shifts every week which made it difficult to adjust sleep and study time. Moreover, since it was a floor job, the schedule was very hectic both physically and mentally. To make things worse, I also had to undergo a minor surgery for which I was on bed rest for a month. It was June already and my preparations were still at nascent stage. But giving up was not an option. So, I stayed optimistic and started from where I had left off. I prepared a time table for every week depending on the work shift, adjusted sleep schedule right after my office so that I could perform equally well in office as well as studies, and followed it religiously.
With patience and perseverance, my hard work started reaping the results and I finally scored 99.91 percentile in CAT exam and performed equally good in interviews and finally secured admission in the Red Building of Dreams, FMS Delhi.
