Challenges Overcome to achieve my Ambitions
I come from a very poor family. My father is a tutor and he goes around the city riding on his bicycle, giving tuition classes to high school students. During my schooling days, my family earning was around Rs. 3000/month out of which Rs. 1500 used to go in me and my sister school fees. It was the time when Rs. 5 seemed more than Rs. 1000 for us.
After passing my 10th, I got admission into Adwaita Mission, Banka but we didn’t have the finance to pay the fees. To support my father, I started taking tuition classes for class 9th students. I was good at Maths and in a short period, I became the youngest popular teacher in my city.
The earning was increasing with every passing month but it started becoming tough to simultaneously manage preparation for IIT JEE and work. I had to stop giving tuition 3 months before the board exam to focus on my studies. Fortunately, I topped my district in class 12th with a score of 95.4% and many renowned personalities of my city came forward to finance my engineering. That result gave me huge confidence to trust my abilities and the support helped me to see the dream of being an engineer becoming a reality. I cracked AIEEE and joined NIT Patna, I asked my father to go for a loan because I had the confidence that I will be able to pay it back. Later, I got placed in Tata Motors, one of the top companies that came to our campus for Mechanical Engineering. I never looked back since.
I accomplished the best rating in my job for two consecutive years & saw my salary grow from 5.6 to 8.75 lakhs. The experience enriched me in terms of personality and showed me the skill that I got of managing clients and staff. I left the job to join NITIE to learn important skills in management. Though the fees are over 14 lakhs, money is least of the problem now.
