The fest kicked off with a T-Shirt and face painting competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from a number of students. Green-O-Vision, a comprehensive case study competition based on sustainable and green technological innovations was next, in which IRMA, Anand took the top honors. A simulation IPL bidding then took center-stage, as all the participants battled it out to create the perfect team. A play was organized in the evening, followed by Brand Charades, a tweaked version of the famous game. Then came Guitar Wars, a screening of the iconic film “Andaaz Apna Apna”, and finally, a music driven bonfire that carried on well into the dawn.
The second day began with a NukkadNatak, based on the theme of respecting the road and its rules. Sponsored by SABMiller India, this event was graced by Mr. Vishnu Dayal, the ACP of Gurgaon Traffic Police. The afternoon saw the first of the two literary events of the fest called India Speaks, a parliamentary debate that was judged by Mr. Sanjeev Ahuja, the Assistant Editor at HT Media. The night is what brought forth the much loved elements of rock and metal music, as the War of the Bands gave the audience a perfect finish to the day.
The final day saw a flurry of flagship as well as impromptu events. Beyond Karma was organized by the Samaritans, the social initiatives club of MDI in collaboration with Prayatna, an NGO based in Gurgaon. It was a live case study were in which teams analyzed and recommended ways to improve the current model of the NGO in the education space. Sans Pareil, the flagship event of Marquity, the marketing club, was aimed at finding the perfect marketing mix. This was judged by Ms. Priyanka Goyal, Marketing and Operations Manager, Asia Pacific, Whirlpool and Siddharth Venkat (MDI PGPM Alumni 2010), Top Account Manager Pepsi.
The flagship event of Imperium, Phalanx ran across three days assessing the holistic skills of the students across different management domains. Teams from different colleges of the country participated in the event; out of more than 400 entries – top 10 contestants were selected. Fest participants also tried their hands at the Red Bull Racing simulator which was set up in the campus for the duration of the event.
In the deluge of cultural and managerial events – Sports was not to be left behind. Akshayam saw 19 teams from as far SPJIMR Mumbai, IIT Delhi, SRCC, IIM Rohtak, IIM Kashipur, IMT Ghaziabad, IIFT Delhi, IMI Delhi, LBSIM, New Delhi and the home teams from MDI. Teams competed across a string of sport events – all aiming for the coveted top prize. MDI Gurgaon was the overall champion for the 3rd consecutive year with IMI Delhi emerging as runners up.
After three days of festivities, the fest was capped by an evening of electric performances, on Sunday evening. Yamaha sponsored the Star Night performance by renowned Singer and Guitarist –Shibani Kashyap lit up the atmosphere by some of her gems and left people grooving to her popular tunes. Shibani who earlier, was also the judge for the War of The Bands had this to say “The quality of all the bands was really good. It was wonderful to see such exceptional talent under the same roof. Especially Ragleela, the band which won the contest, was really impressive and very different from most of the bands we get to listen to.”
