After BE I started working in a small private company and that is where I got my first salary.
After disconnecting the phone I quickly came back to my senses and started planning what to buy for my parents with my first salary. I decided to visit the Pantaloons just beside my office in the evening and find something they will love. I entered the store after my office and entered the Men’s section first. There were a lot of options and I got puzzled to decide what to buy and what not. Finally among all the options I chose a shirt from Peter England for my father. I was overjoyed for the feeling that finally I could gift something to the person who has given his everything to make me better. I went to the womens’ section, bought a kurti from Rangmanch for my mother and left the store with a smile on my face.
My parents were on cloud nine to get something from me and loved both the items. Thanks to Pantaloons and Aditya Birla Group for being part of one of the most vivid memories of my life.
Having talked about the brightest days, let me give you an idea of the most difficult period of my life. Challenges are part and parcel of our daily lives. Landing in Jadavpur University was like a dream come true for me and my parents. However this was the point of life where the struggle started. Coming from a very humble background it was very tough for me to adapt to the hustle-bustle of the city Kolkata. I had friends who would wear branded clothes, fancy watches and shoes. I used to feel inferior and living in the city was getting tougher and tougher for me. It took a toll on my studies and scored very average grades in my first semester. But I took the challenge and tried to improve myself bit by bit and tried to make myself smarter and better everyday. I worked hard with my studies and gave my best to see the reflection in results. I got settled in Kolkata, joined the departmental football team and quickly rose the ranks to lead the team in the Intra College football tournament. I scored quiet satisfactory in the two final years of graduation and landed two jobs from the campus itself and one from off-campus. It was a complete turnaround for me and this is how I got with the challenges of my life, by pushing myself for bigger and better and now here I am at IIM Nagpur, a place where people dream to come. I believe if there is a will, there is a way. And as the Peter England says, it was ‘Beginning of good things’.
