As someone who has lived in tier-3 cities for most of his life, it’s hard to relate to grandiose malls that sport expensive showrooms of brands that come with a rich posterior. People living in tier 3 cities have neither the want nor the resources to buy from these stores. But that doesn’t mean that they have to compromise on quality.
I still remember when I was buying clothes before leaving my town to start my graduation, my father took me to the only Peter England store in town. The brand of Peter England had a blend of quality and affordable price, perfect for the lower middle class customer of Indian market. It takes a lot of brand value for a company to make customers buy clothes from outlets in a Tier-3 city.
From that day to this day, my engagement with brands of Aditya Birla has been continuous. When I buy clothes for myself from Pantaloons or when I see luxury clothing stores by Aditya Birla which I hope of being a customer of someday, I realize that how the group has formed relationships with people. Everyone connects with it because Aditya Birla has products as per everyone’s need and budget. And that is how you become a truly household name.
All in all, Aditya Birla has affected millions of lives in a similar way and that is how it has been among the few ones to be at the centre of growth and flourishing of Indian economy.
How I overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far
Ours has been a family of toppers. Anything below 90 % was considered to be a bad result. And the two elder sisters of mine, with their stellar records in academics, had raised my parents’ expectations for me.
A back in the second year of engineering was not the kind of result I wanted to share with my parents after having being the district topper in both 10th and 12th board examinations .My first F grade turned out to be a little hard to digest . I could not fathom the reaction of my parents who had sent me to study in a big city with hopes and expectations.
Nevertheless, I told my parents about it, got through the “His life is ruined” lectures, cleared the back and made it a point to make best of whatever was left of my college life. Became student assistant, organized department events and became only one from department to bag an internship in a VC firm that had visited the college. Thanks to the F grade.
