These lines from one of my favorite fashion destinations, Van Heusen aptly summarize the independent and empowered spirit that today’s women like me thrive on.

I was born and brought up in a humble middle-class family. My parents have always been my source of inspiration. During the first few years at my school, I was a shy kid, and my biggest foe was stage fear. One day when my teachers pushed me to recite one of my self-composed poems in a regular morning assembly, I was in jitters. The only reason that I was able to shatter the ceiling was the belief that I saw in my mother’s eyes when she said: “You can do it.” These words somehow always manage to kill my fears. Franklin D. Roosevelt aptly put that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

As they say, "challenges are what make life interesting, and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” One major challenge that came up my way was when I took up the responsibility of being the captain of the college women’s basketball team. There were tough times when it was not just about the game but the people too. It taught me the meaning of a team. I learned how to handle failure and taking control of the situation. But more importantly, I realized that the first step is to always believe in myself, in my abilities, to know that self-doubts will only diminish my strengths.

Aditya Birla Group brands have complimented me on this journey from being a shy girl to an ambitious and confident woman. From my college wear to my first interview and office wear, Aditya Birla Group’s Pantaloons, Van Heusen, and Allen Solly have always styled me up for any event. The customer-oriented approach of these brands enables me to use fashion as a means to show my passion for the work I do. As simple as those four words may sound, the impact they had on that little girl turned her into this independent woman I am today. And as Nietzsche aptly put, “It is the business of the very few to be independent; it is a privilege of the strong.”

The multinational conglomerate has employed much more than a hundred thousand people, including some of my very close friends. The group has a presence in my everyday things to the place I call home. The former being it’s fashion retail brands to the latter being UltraTech cement and related companies.

Aditya Birla Group has also been doing well on the social responsibility front. In the village where my grandma lived, accessibility to good hospitals, or even a doctor is a huge concern. They set up medical and health check-up camps from time to time in such remote places. They operate schools for the underprivileged children and run skill training programs for the youth. The role these companies carry in building me as an individual, as well as the nation as a whole, is indispensable.
