Starting from where ABG started, textiles many of them would be surprised to find out the brand they are wearing the brands of ABG without realizing it. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL) not only owns many brands but also acts as brick and mortar sales point of various global fashion brands. I am one of the Indians influenced by the branded apparel from ABG.
Next, not only as a civil engineer but also as a consumer, it is hard to digest the value ultra-tech has on the construction industry. Ultratech has made its brand synonymous with quality. I have seen constructions halt just because this particular brand of cement was not available. We built our house at 2016 on Ultratech cement. Nothing else even came to mind.
Next in the Aluminium industry, Hindalco Industries Limited is the largest aluminium rolling company in the world. (Source: https://www.adityabirla.com/businesses/companies/hindalco-industries-limited,8/7/2019). Some consumer goods from them are the food wrapping aluminium foils such as superwrap and freshwrapp.
The reason I highlighted the above three products was not to show how has ABG affected me but to show how it has influenced me across domains unrelated to each other. If I wanted to include the other companies and brands that not only affects me nut the society, I don't think this space is enough. I'll leave some points for the readers to ponder.
Ambition?#iimtrichy
I like to change it to goals. I am not going to define ambition but I believe ambition is an achievement you get by achieving the short term goals you set for yourself and ambition is your endpoint. To create ambition in itself is a similar life goal that you set for yourself. I don't think I reached the level of maturity yet. so I here I go talking about some things I believe as an achievement.
Two decisions I believe have influenced my life to turn out the way it is.
The first one is was simply to leave my hometown to pursue my academics at a residential school to get into an IIT/Nit. This was a major decision I took on my own and had a tough time convincing my parents about. coming from a closed background, my parents never knew what IITs/Nits were or why they existed in the first place. To be fair to them. neither did I 3 months before I took the decision. It was a friend of mine who enlightened me on the topic. but at the end of the day, I did not know what engineering
was.
What I understood was there is a competition for the elite students in India to study at a premier institute. I was short-sighted to understand what engineering was but was competitive to put myself in a pressure situation.
Next was to quit my career in civil engineering to pursue a different career. I was passionate about my work but not the ones involving engineering but management. The time I was ignorant to understand what I was getting into once I joined NIT Trichy came back to haunt me. I think that with time my passion lies somewhere else and I am still searching for it in this vast world.
