I boarded my train, and I was hoping that my father will like this shirt. I just wanted to check that shirt again I pulled it out and somehow I was going through bill again, that time I noticed "Aditya Birla Group" mentioned on that bill. Before that, this thought never crossed mind that Van Heusen is part of ABG. I reached my home the next morning. I gave that shirt to my father and guess what he really liked that shirt.
From that day, whenever I hear this word ABG, it reminds me of that day. It is not a group of industries anymore; it is a happy memory for most of us, and I wish they carry on to share happiness through their products.
Part: B Challenges make us learn quickly
As rightly said by someone, “We don’t grow when things are easy; we grow when we face challenges.” Every one of us faces different challenges every day, but the attitude with which we counter these challenges defines our personality. I feel that each challenge is an opportunity to learn things quickly and help in developing a positive attitude. Here is one of my experience that contributed to my development:
I was pretty new at my first job and was still learning from seniors. Thankfully the organization I was working provides a very good learning atmosphere. I was also dedicated to give my best, and I think management recognized this. Things were going pretty smoothly and then came a sudden change, production manager resigned from his job.
Higher management asked me to learn his routine work and duties within a month that he has to serve as a notice period. I was hesitated and nervous as it has been only ten months since I have joined and that too, I was working as a production executive. For some days, I doubted myself. I had a mix of negative and positive thoughts, with negative thoughts dominating my mind. What if I failed? Is one month is enough to learn all that? Am I capable enough to fulfill that management is expecting from me?
Somehow I trusted my instincts and said yes for all those responsibilities. That one month was a great learning curve for me. Yes, difficulties were there, but I came to learn things that I haven’t heard of in those ten months. Finally, in that one month, I declared myself passed in that test.
I worked for that post until a new production manager was hired. It not only helped to learn more from the technical side but also developed much better communication with higher management. If that challenge or we can opportunity hasn’t been there I would have taken much more time to prove myself. I also got promoted to the post of Assistant production manager. Because of some other plans, I came to IIM Visakhapatnam to pursue MBA, but I still have contacts with my seniors over there, and I am sure I will get enough challenges ahead in my life and will face them with the same spirit.
