                 One of the challenges most of the students across India face is learning English. I was not good at English either, and I realized it only in class 6th. My teacher at that point of time Mr. A K Singh advised me to change my approach towards English. He said that I should read more be it newspapers, magazines, storybooks, whatever and always keep a dictionary with me. Now I know this piece of advice sounds very cliche. But, later that year, my school came up with a regular speech program in morning assembly aimed at improving the public speaking skills of students. And, I was the first in the entire school to be selected for the same. I still consider Mr. A K Singh as my enlightenment master in the English language.

Years later, I was reading Chetan Bhagat's Revolution 2020 where it is mentioned that to improve our English instead of thinking the ideas in our mother tongue and then translating it to English within our mind we should try to think in English itself. And, I realized that is what changed all those years back without me even noticing.

In Kendriya Vidyalaya, there is a tradition on teachers day that class 12th students teach as substitute teachers to their juniors. On that day, I wore a glossy purple Van Heusen shirt, and it gave me the confidence to step into my teacher's shoes and take classes. And just after school was over, I went on my very first date! And, another Van Heusen shirt I wore to my IIMV interview! These two shirts are very close to my heart.
