Challenges shape people to Perfection. What are that I faced and how did they impact?
Whether it’s a success or a failure story, Challenges are always an inevitable part of everyone’s life journey. To achieve big, you need to challenge big. So was my journey to date. I had always loved to face challenges and go beyond them to achieve what I dreamt of. I would like to quote few instances that marked a milestone at each stage in my career. Long back in 2011, after my class 10, just like 12 lakhs other JEE aspirants, getting an admission in IIT or NIT was a dream for me, that I believed would become a turning point in my career. Determined to achieve my goal, with the help of my father, I joined a Coaching Institute for JEE coaching which was 700km away from my home. As the college was one of the topmost institutes in Andhra Pradesh, my father immediately deposited a non-refundable fee of 50,000/-, which was a very huge amount for our family at that moment. Over the time, my results started deteriorating and I was inching away from my dream. After thorough introspection, I found that the hostel timings were too difficult for me to adjust, affecting my mental as well as physical health, which had a direct effect on my studies. So, after immense brainstorming, I decided to go back to my home and join a coaching institute there, where I can be physically as well as mentally fit and unleash my full potential. But upon discussing with my parents, they were hesitant to accept my decision as the college in my home town was not that good as the one which they had joined me. Also, my parents didn’t want to waste the 50,000/- that they had paid at the institute, which was a highly valuable amount for us to risk. For the above reasons, even all the people I know were opposed to my decision. With immense self-confidence in my decision, I went against all odds convincing my parents and leaving the campus because, I was sure that if I thought about that moment, there is a high risk of me not justifying the reason for which I went there. Fast-forwarding 2 years, I secured an admission to the B.Tech program at NIT Jalandhar, one of the most prestigious institutes in India with the status of “Institute of National Importance”, which signified the achievement of my dream and validating my decision that I took at a crucial moment of my career.
Another one similar instance was in my 3 rd year of B.Tech, in 2015. At that time, I was leading the Brakes System Designing department of Team Avishkar at our college, which designs an All-Terrain Vehicle for participating in the BAJA SAE event. After a lot of research and Iterative analysis on the preliminary brake rotor designs that I made, I came out with a unique and complex brake rotor design, which was very light and strong having a very less gradient of stress increment with the increased torque application, compared to all other designs. Though it was a significant achievement, the other team members were hesitant to manufacture and install it in the vehicle because of its complexity and also as it was one of its kind which was never tried in India by any other teams before. Even on the international grounds, a very few of one or two teams tried a similar design before. But, I was clear and confident because of the strong analysis done for the design. Hence, I convinced everyone in the team with the data I had took the whole responsibility of the design on my shoulders, and implemented the design in the vehicle. The design thereafter proved out to be very successful during testing and also during the main event, many dignitaries have appreciated the design as it being the most unique in the whole event where in the teams were present from top colleges across India. The design was nominated for Innovation award at the event. This was all possible only because of not following but going against the conventions.
