How you overcame challenges in life ?
We all face hurdles in life, some go away like a breeze whereas some leave an impact for a lifetime, these challenges develop us as a person. I was born and brought up in a small city of Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. I was an introvert, low self-confidence guy throughout my school life and didn't participate in any activities or even sports events due to lack of self-confidence and my shy nature, for my graduation I moved to Mumbai, a very big metro city compared to my hometown in Haryana. Life in the metro was something that I could only imagine. I was always impressed by the confidence that my cousins who were living in Delhi-NCR possessed in terms of speech, skills and as a person. Finally, for higher education, I got a chance to shift to Mumbai to pursue graduation. I was moving out of my home for the first time, to a city that has a drastically different culture, people, and lifestyle. I had to adjust to this new city, had to live in a hostel for the first time ever, moreover I did 12th standard with majors in science and had to adjust to the new curriculum which involved accounts, economics, business studies, etc. as I was going to pursue bachelor’s in business admiration. It was initially a very big struggle for me to adjust in a very different and open environment, may it be getting used to the hostel life or the unique college setting. I got a 2.38-grade point on a scale of 4 in my first semester, but I was getting used to the fast-paced life and getting over my introversion due to numerous college presentations and projects that we were supposed to do in groups. I made a habit to greet people with a “Hi” or a “Hello” whenever I came across them in the corridor, canteen or anywhere in college premises, this helped me make better connections with people and I was able to network more among my batchmates which in turn helped me get over my introvert self.
I learned something new from everything that was thrown at me, I made a change to everything that seemed to cause an obstruction for me until I was comfortable with the setting. Gradually with time I learned a lot of things and was able to feel the change within me, I was confident enough to participate in class discussions and give good presentations in front of my whole class which earlier was a gigantic task for me, by the end of college I also scored well and got a 3.5-grade point on a scale of 4 which was an achievement for me considering the point from where I started initially, I consider this metamorphosis as something really challenging that I overcame.
