Talking about a product which I came across recently, while I was imbibed with the responsibility of paying certain bills, typically a fresher entering a B-school. Turning wounds into wisdom!

I read these words and it struck a chord in my head, so strong that I could do nothing but introspect myself and validate this again. Being the youngest in my family, I had always lived under the shelter of my elders. This led me into being a very reserved, shy and timid person. As a result, I was often a victim of bullying by the children in my neighborhood and at school. I couldn’t always express opinions in front of a large audience. I found it very frustrating and thus wanted to get rid of it, but couldn’t really gather the courage to do so. However, as I grew up, I started speaking up for myself and in little ways, showing others the confidence, I aspired to develop. I developed a mindset that I needed to be an achiever to outsmart others.
In a bid to overcome bullying at a young age, along with my constant academic achievements I started getting actively involved in diverse activities like sports, cultural programs, photography and more. Participating in annual sports day at school in team sports, helped me open up to people and get rid of my timid nature to be a team player. Participating In an annual cultural day with dance performances and exhibitions, helped me explore my creative side and made me confident in being able to publicly show myself as an individual with diverse capabilities. I even started playing lawn tennis at the age of 13 which I pursued with passion and determination to play among the best players in the state. These experiences with different activities have shaped my personality of being highly self-confident about my skills and capabilities, developed team building and leadership skills which shall help me throughout my life.
While I was pursuing under-graduation, I explored the way to shine out by developing fine communication skills. So, I started participating in public speaking events, where I could accelerate my confidence and thus can voice my opinions. Also, I took the initiative and started managing The Social committee- Mavericks. This whole act of leading people, managing resources, getting the approvals, and looking for little details was unprecedented to me before. I also started voicing my opinions, and came up with novel ideas to outshine others. These decisions and ideas made people elect me as the head of the core-committee members. This helped me understand people, and also take a dominant position in the committee. I’ve experienced that to overcome challenges, I will have to wear away my comfort zone, so that I can try my hand at new things, and be confident in every aspect of life. Now that I stand at this juncture in my life, having seen diverse situations, one of being overlooked and bullied and one of gaining respect and appreciation from people all around, I definitely know that what leaves a lasting impression on a person’s mind is how you made them feel, and less about what you do or what you say, for I remember people for various reasons and everyone holds a different position in my life. Thus, I intend to leave an impact on people I talk to, by setting such an example that they could learn what I did, without going through any such adversities in life.
