20 years back, when he laid the foundation for his house, he believed in UltraTech cement. He believed in Idea Cellular for connectivity and sent his 10-year-old daughter to a trek in the Himalayas. After all these years, for a shopaholic I am, Pantaloons is my go-to place for all the fashion emergencies, and their wide variety of products never cease to amaze me.
For an Indian, Aditya Birla Group is omnipresent in life. Apart from this, I can also say that ABG has taught me how to make better decisions i.e, pick the best among what you can pick. ABG products always make me happy and this is how I learnt the importance of keeping up the faith someone has on you. I hope that this presence of ABG keeps continuing throughout my life and I get to learn a lot more.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far
I have always been a person who likes taking up challenges. The most thrilling part about a challenge is when you can prove a person, who has always discouraged you, wrong. Luckily, I got the opportunity to prove the same person wrong, three times. From the same person, I have heard comments like, “I don’t think you can pass that subject without my help”, “I don’t think you will get a job”, “I don’t think you are fit to go for Post-Graduation”. Today, after securing an A grade in that subject and having successfully worked in Verizon for two years, I am sitting in IIM Trichy.
I know that I did prove that person wrong, but the important part is that, along this journey, I learnt how to believe in myself, to live in the moment and that hard work always pays off.
The first thing that I did while I started facing continuous criticism is that I avoided negative thoughts and replaced those thoughts with work and assignments. It is when I saw an improvement in my score, I started believing in myself. Having faith in my knowledge in Telecommunications helped me land a job in Verizon.
Once I landed a job, I thought I would never have any problems in life. Then came CAT 2017. I was shocked to see the result. I had qualified in two sections but only had 43 percentile in the Verbal Ability section. I was devastated. But soon, I picked myself up. I read many articles about how to crack the Verbal section. All of them had one thing in common, practice every day. I can proudly say that I did practice every single day, be it a holiday or a cousin’s wedding. It is because of my dedication and perseverance I am sitting in one of the most prestigious institutes in the country.
This is not the end of my journey and there will be many more barriers to cross. But I am sure that I am ready for the fight.
