Belonging to a remote area in Madhya Pradesh, the kind of adversities I faced is totally different than what student in cities faces. Poverty is the most prevalent aspect in the rural areas and no doubt India is abundant in this attribute. The mentality of short term return is what withholds the student in villages. The parents being helpless need an helping hand to fulfill the basic necessities of their beloved family. The responsibility is put on the young shoulder at a very early age and the individual has to accept it and the career however bright it looks is smashed. My story is a bit different as compared to the normal suppressed village student. I have been studying at later stages of life on scholarships, thanks to the government, which made may family a bit stress free. I was lucky that my parents were aware of the mighty power of education and supported me to do something extraordinary.
Living up to the mentality of the veteran villagers is tough. My parents were always suggested by the so called experienced persons that the time has come for him(me) to give back. And also sometimes my parents swayed away with their thoughts and requested to do the same. But anyhow I was able to show the light at the end of the tunnel and convinced them to wait and watch. This thought of giving back to parents for their sacrifices always made the fire within to burn the brightest.
Finally, Persistence paid off. All the hard work and sacrifices were fruitful. Now, I am a student of one of the most prestigious institute providing management education i.e. IIM Sirmaur. Thanks to the banks to avail this education without any collateral because I had none. I am lucky enough to pursue this education which is a dream of many aspiring students. Thanks to the parents who had patience and faith in me, all their sacrifices will pay off soon. Hope the mentality of the village veteran changes or every student should be lucky as me and change the destiny upside down.
