We, a team of 10 were working on a major critical issue when there was an alarming mail pop-up. We got to know that the systems used at our client’s location were going to be decommissioned and all the Control testing need to be completed within a week which was a direct squeeze from 3 to 1 week. To keep up the expectations of the client, my manager asked me to take a lead. There were 20 systems in queue along with strict time constraint. Being a flexible person, I found myself quite adaptable to the upcoming requirements. I had to unlearn, learn and re-learn various strategies to get this vital task done. This success helped me develop my leadership skills. Finally, we were able to deliver the best, gaining the trust of our client. Everyone praised me for my perseverance and I was awarded Applause Award for my contribution. It helped me to rise in my job area and attain recognition in a much earlier phase.
However, with this, the expectations rose. I was asked to handle multiple projects. This seems to be a great opportunity but it acted as a hurdle in my preparation. Being true to the organisation had put me in a fix to maintain work and CAT preparation balance. However, this could not stop me from reaching the zenith. I started performing smart work instead of hard work, prioritised tasks and devoted myself completely to come through with flying colours. My determination and will power helped me achieve my short-term goal and led me here at SPJIMR. In my life, there were many challenging circumstances but I learned that I am not defined by these and can always find a way to rise above such situations.
