The Definitions of Socialism and communism are not correct. the most accepted theory of communism is by karl marx. Socialism is the intermediate stage leading to communism. As mentioned that socialism is 'a unreal theory' is also wrong. various forms of socialism are in existence in various countries including India. just because the inequalities have not been reduces yet doesn't mean that they never will. Among the three, only communism is a utopian idea and it does not involve the govt. in any form. the basic tenet of communism is a 'stateless society' wherein the resources are distributed equally and means of production are owned by the community itself. lastly the concept of eco. democracy is not new as it was postulated by karl marx way back in 1850's. it was the entire basis if his work, wherein he rejected the 'political democracy' as practised in USA and propounded 'economic democracy' as the only way to achieve equality and end suppression of 'have nots'

Capitalism in it's truest form generally involves a system of perfect competition. If everyone does play by the rules and rules against cartelization and promoting free trade are properly enforced, an ideal capitalistic society generally has market forces keeping itself in balance. Monopsonies are avoided as well by giving labourers a choice as to which corporations to work for and corporations vying for a better quality workforce by offering higher compensations therefore leading to an economic trickle down and benefit to society as a whole. And while concentration of wealth may be a major issue with capitalism, isn't it the principle of effort vs. reward that makes capitalism what it is? In their most ideal forms, capitalism ensures a more deserved distribution of income based more on Darwin's natural survival of the fittest principle. Socialism and any other form of economy seem only to halt our progress in comparison. A romantic gesture of no man getting left behind vs. the greater good may be an issue of moral conflict, but there's no denying which approach works out better in the long run.

@Mandeep: The definitions give a fair idea of what the theories are, even to a layman. As you mentioned, socialism is in existence in India, but not in its “pure” form. I would rephrase it as socialism is a component of the policy followed in India, it is not the only form. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, communism is a way of organizing a society in which the government owns the things that are used to make and transport products and there is no privately owned property. How could the idea of communism and public ownership exist without a government to implement it?!!! When I say economic democracy is a new concept, it is in the form of its implementations and as an alternative to Capitalism. Of course it’s an old theory by Karl Marx, but a new model in terms of being implemented.
