Phases in life
Phase 1- The Childhood
At the outset, I would like to mention that I have studied from Aditya Birla Public School (ABPS)
As a child, I had a tough time memorising the core values of ABG, thinking why I need to memorise these 5 words, seeing no practical use of it unlike science as it was a part of our Moral Science having no substantial weight. I could only realise the value of these values once I was grown up seeing faces, races, genders, money lenders and what not. I was so immature to understand the diversity, inclusivity that people from multiple backgrounds can put in the table to solve Business/life problems.
The price of this value is incalculable as it helped me to be a successful individual and team player in varied domains and helped me land into the coveted Indian Institute of Management
I now am going to narrate an incident of my school which was in Cement Plant Ultratech, One fine day we got to know that the MD of whole Aditya Birla group is coming to our plant in a few days for a visit. Apparently as quoted by the employees of the plant when this guy who was MD, visited he was wearing a Safety Shoes, Helmet, A shirt with ABG's logo. That guy was none other than Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla when asked/flattered by employees, that "Sir, you don't need to wear all this..." He stopped them by saying "If I don't follow rules of my plant than How can I expect my employees to follow this". This single statement improved the safety rating for the month for employees as he won the core of their heart.
This had such an insightful impact in my mind that I thought if the guy who is multi-billionaire has earned this by following basic values in life than I also can.
As an adult now I really feel obliged to have ingrained and imbibed into me the qualities needed to be a successful persona or leader.
Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness and Speed
Trust me when I was penning this down I didn't have to google a single word
Quiet did I.....
Phase 2- Adult
As an adult, there is a substantial change in our aspirational level needs right starting from the clothing we put on to the lifestyle we carry and I have to acknowledge ABG did quiet capture it well.
Normal brands to Louis Philippe- I still remember my strategic shift from a normal branded (unbranded) apparel to a Louis Philippe for my first ever date thinking this would impact. The date was a success but I am not sure which was more impactful the LP or me.
It has also set high standards for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by diligently contributing to the social and economic aspects of the fragile sections of the society. So, in many ways, it has not only marked a huge impression globally but also helped in assisting many lives and my life is one among them. Aditya Birla Group through its CSR activities has brought vast changes in rural India. Its outreach in 5000 villages has affected 7.5 million people and provide facilities in the fields of healthcare, mid-day meals, education and skill training thereby giving back to the community.
I now look forward to serving ABG in the best of my abilities
