When I look back at my life, I see a kid who was scared to stand out. Throughout my childhood, I feel, I was holding myself back by with my laid-back attitude. Every day during the morning prayer in my school I was reminded of the meaning of semper sursum, the motto of my school, which translates to “always aim high”. But for years I failed to realise and recognise the inherent malice of bad attitude and how it translates to the way I behave and respond to situations in life.
I was scared to admit that I had no goal in life. After years of standing in the quadrangle listening to our Principal tell us about the importance of setting a goal I graduated and started my journey as an engineering student in University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun. I used to procrastinate my studies when I was in college but after 4 semesters, I realized how it can negatively impact my career. That is when I gradually started to turn myself around. As a direct consequence of that, I observed that my scores went up in the next 4 semesters. The challenges I faced were inside my head and it was very difficult to change my attitude and outlook on life. I did however learn how to meet deadlines as a result of my weaknesses. After overcoming my fear and internal challenges of adapting to change, I was placed in IBM India Pvt. Ltd. in the final year of engineering. Now, here I am in NMIMS, Mumbai, one of the top business schools in India.
