Yet, as every marketeer is told that the Gateway to the magical land of Marketing is through the staircase of Sales, so was I. Hence, I embarked my Corporate Sales journey through learning about product based company’s tech hiring challenges. The internship gave me the discomfort of lead generation, yet the learning and the confidence that followed, once, I had converted clients, was phenomenal. Business Development puts us out of comfort zone and we need to buy the idea before we are able to sell it to someone else.
One does not have to fear from calling up the CTO of the company and ask him, if you can provide him with a solution! That was one of the learning. The long monotonous hours; the database management and the constant lost calls, bogs us down. But, we need to wait for the light at the end of the tunnel.
My mentor, Mr Shubhankar Dutta is the Asst. VP of the firm, and he gave me the autocracy to explore the unexplored fields for the organisation. It was a plus point in understanding automation and the various platforms for technical hiring. Endless brainstorming sessions with my mentor gave scope for thinking and developing that market research and analytical skills. The novelty of AI in hiring is something i had only envisaged, yet, once, you peep into it, it is absolutely fascinating!
Exploring lucrative markets like the BFSI and other Asian countries, was interesting and challenging, too. The overall freedom to explicitly explore the HR consulting industry was a demanding and a different experience.
