The newly-inducted batches also had an interaction with Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arun Monga. He talked about the role of law in progress and development of the world. He lauded the institute for achieving diversity in the spheres of gender, culture, and academic backgrounds. Sharing insights from his journey from a first generation lawyer to a judge, he encouraged the students to boost their flexibility and adaptability skills in order to excel and achieve success.
Shri Puneet Bali, Senior Advocate spoke at length about the importance of a robust legal system and quick dispensation of legal disputes in order to attract the interest of large corporate firms from developed countries. He added, “Law and economic development are essentially connected”. He also gave few words of wisdom to the students stating ‘Money, power, and fame are a natural consequence of working ethically.’ Mr. Shardul S. Shroff, Senior Advocate delivered his talk on the topic ‘Future and Scope of Legal Profession in India’. He stressed upon the importance of a deep and continuous study of the law and respect for the importance of time and discipline. In his words, “The majesty of law lies in its demonstrative fairness - where there is truth, there will be victory”.
Mr. Amardeep Singh Rai, ADGP Punjab delivered his talk on the implications of rising protectionism. He motivated the students to outshine in their future endeavors in the next five years. He added that the students must prepare themselves to become confident human beings who will have faith in their personal ability to face any situation. He also encouraged students to take advantage of filtered wisdom provided to them by eminent faculty and speakers. Shri Raj Kumar, MD, LIC of India in his talk urged the students to move away from black-and-white thinking, and emphasized on the importance of being able to anticipate, trigger, and handle change to provide vision to the organizations. “To thrive in this world, business leaders need to be ready to disrupt and be disrupted,” he said. Dr. Hanif Qureshi, Commissioner of Police spoke about “education with a purpose”— which revolves around the art of problem-solving. He laid stress on improving one’s emotional quotient in order to build long-lasting relationships. He further brought to the fore the role played by the ideals of perseverance, patience and grit in the path to success. “Grit is the best predictor of success in almost all disciplines”, he said.
Ms. Akila Agrawal, Senior Partner talked about how it is crucial to have a growth mindset and not a fixed mindset. As lawyers, one must think critically and continually question everything that is told. As the law is constantly changing, the use and understanding of technological trends will greatly impact the careers of all emerging professionals. Mr. Anand Bhatia, CMO, Fino Payments Bank, shared his experience of IIM culture. He advised the students that they must adopt methods during their journey with best possible ways to maximize personal and professional growth. Dr. Manoj Gumber, Senior Doctor took the session on how to manage stress. He gave unique insights and strategies on different ways to cope with stress.
The institute continues to focus towards maintaining an excellent academic, gender, and regional diversity in its bathes. The students of the newly admitted batch of IPM come from 22 states of India. Similarly, IPL new batch represents students coming from 20 states. 50% of the students of the newly inducted batch of IPL Programme are women. This is in continuation to the historic gender diversity achieved by institute’s various programmes including flagship PGP programme where over 70% of the students are female.
