M1 started the interview.
M1: What is the difference between strength and hardness?
Me: Started with the definition. But he didn’t seem to be happy with the answer. So, I switched over to the processes in which they are tested. I elaborated on how compressive tests, tensile tests, and indentation tests are done. We had a discussion on it.
M1: Unit of strength
Me: Nm-2
M1: Difference between cast iron and pig iron.
Me: Explained the difference on the basis of composition and how cast iron is purer than pig iron. Briefly compared their hardness and brittleness.
M1: Difference between Tempering and Annealing.
Me: Stated the difference in the process and how they have an effect on the hardness and overall property of the material. I illustrated it with a sample and we had a brief discussion over martempering and austempering.
M1: What is CRGO?
Me: Didn’t know the answer to this. Later found out that it is cold-rolled grain-oriented steel.
M1: Your goals in life?
Me: Told him.
M1:Why MBA?
Me: Answered it.
M1: What is the meaning of Meghalaya?
Me: It means abode of clouds(M1 and F1 nodded)
(This question was pretty common. Many of the students were asked this. So, I prepared myself well with the geography of the entire state.)
M1: I am done.
F1 continued with the interview.
F1: How did you utilize the lockdown?
Me: Told them how usually I stay in my hostel so these three years I couldn’t spend much time with my family. So, during this time, we cooked, cleaned the house, and talked about the good old days. Apart from that, I learned a lot of things. Wrote a literature review.
F1:What are your weaknesses?
Me: Told her
F1: Name two epics.
Me: Ramayan and Mahabharat
F1: Which one is your favorite?
Me: Ramayan
F1: Who wrote it?
Me: Valmiki
F1: We are done with the interview. Thank you.
