However, all these presumptions went straight out of the window, on the very 1st day of our English Communications class for the Preparatory batch. Thanks to the faculty member, the 2018-2020 Prep batch did not only get to have interesting interactions but also have developed a friendship that would last for years.
It all started with the 1st class of introductions. “Introductions, so boring!” However, this is IIM Trichy, and nothing is boring or conventional here! Instead of introducing ourselves, we were asked to introduce the person sitting beside us. The logic behind this was that we are more comfortable introducing others and having people judge them than ourselves. And boy, it worked! The students shared hilarious as well as emotional stories of their partners, bring the audience to tears, of both laughter and sorrow. I had the opportunity of introducing Aishwarya Ramesh, who continues to be one of my close friends at the institute.
The second task of the day was to enact the functioning of a machine in groups. The group that I was a part of was indeed Diverse! Constituting of people from Kerala, Karnataka, Bihar, Maharashtra and Delhi, with a different educational background. Being a shy girl from Bihar, it initially seemed like a nightmare, however once we started discussing, it turned out to be the most exciting classroom experiences so far. We enacted a grinder, with the twist of sound effects, speed controller and a ‘human vegetable’. Our act turned out to be one of the two best acts of the assignment.
But wait, the best is yet to come. Our final assignments of the course were: Presentation on anything that’s common among the members of the group and to present a skit.
We were given a week’s time for these assignments. Those few days of discussing, debating, practising till 2 am, laughing, bonding, were a few I would cherish for a long time. We did not only have fun, but also learnt a lot about each other and about our differences. We understood the importance communication, team work, time management and respecting opinions. I also realized that making friends was not that difficult, at least at IIM-T.
Leaving home for the first time isn’t easy, especially when it’s the other corner of the nation. However, the love and care I received from the institute and the people of the institute never made me feel out of place. So, thank you IIM-T, for making me feel at home, even before the actual classes started.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

Besides these external factors, I, personally have an interest in fashion and retail industry. Brands like Forever 21 and Van Heusen, are some of my favourite brands. ABFRL constitutes of world renowned brands, where I believe, I would be able to showcase my complete potential and be able to contribute to the company.
