Now before actually deep diving into our experience, we wanted to give a very powerful name to our team and had spent a considerable amount of time in deciding that before registering for the event. We came with our team name as ‘Arihant’ which is a very Indian name particularly used in Jainism signifying the ability to conquer with anger, pride, deceit, greed and abhorrence.
The competition was divided into the following rounds with every stage adding new dimensions to our learnings: -
Round 1: Report Submission (4,500 Teams)
Round 2: Video Submission (220 Teams)
Round 3: Q&A with Infosys Senior Leaders (56 Teams)
Round 4: Grand Finale (Top 6 Teams)
To build deep domain knowledge industry in the electric vehicle market, we got in touch with various executives of MG Motors, Tesla and Maruti Suzuki to understand the ground reality of the market. EV is very emerging space almost at the nascent stage in India and was important to us to understand the integrities of this market so that the model build by us is feasible and practical which is the most important criteria in any B-Plan competition.
Our biggest hurdle was during the video presentation round where we had to create a 5-minute video presentation of our idea. A lot of efforts had to be put up in deciding the timeline and the aesthetic part of the video to create an impact on the judging panel.
In the final round, we, Great Lakes, were competing with the likes of IIT-B, ISB, JBIMS, NMIMS & Symbiosis for the final crown, and the team from JBIMS was adjudged as the ultimate winners. We also got the opportunity to work with Infosys senior leaders who were mentoring us in the final stages of the competition to fine-tune our presentation.
A special mention for our academic mentors who had been constantly monitoring and supporting us and we knew the entire Great Lakes family was rooting for us to win and in the end, all of their wishes and prayers worked. We were also extremely lucky to witness the excellence of Mr Narayana Murthy, founder of Infosys, who had inaugurated the final event and in the end, getting felicitated by Sonam Wangchuk (Innovator & Education Reformist in Ladakh region) was like icing on the cake.
I would like to conclude by saying Victory is sweetest when you've known defeat as we previously got defeated at Motilal Oswal Think Equity Think QGLP contest – India’s biggest stock pitch competition after becoming the National Finalists, however, after been adjudged as the National Runners-up and been awarded INR 2,00,000 we shall continue to maintain our strive for learning and make sure that curiosity and hunger for knowledge never dies.
