Since then, Mridang has grown by leaps and bounds. Improving and innovating with every passing year has been the motto of the festival. In 2012, Mridang has gone international too. The students would be designing a 10*10 sq meters pencil mosaic which would feature in the Guinness Book of World records. The purpose of this attempt shall be to promote education. To spread the message, the institute shall donate all pencils used in making the mosaic.
It takes team effort, dedication and passion to host any event of such a big magnitude. Though the event was to be held in February, preparation had started way back in August, when the teams for various events and verticals were formed. A lot of effort has gone into making this one of the biggest events in Central India. Since opening up of the registration window, all its events received tremendous nationwide participation.
Mridang has already been initiated on 24th January through its event “Jagriti”, which has laid the foundation stone for spreading the message of ‘A fist full of rice and a heart full of love’. This initiative helps urban school-going children to take a sneak peek into the rural landscape and interact with their counterparts in rural schools.
A gist of all campus events of Mridang is given below:
1. Distortion - Rock bands from the country battle it out for 2 days and judged by the professionals.
2. Laavanya - The fashion show
3. Lasya - Choreo event
4. Jashn – Popular bands, plays, stand-up comedy entertain and add jazz to the event
5. Dhwani - Solo singing competition
6. Cult Icon - The search for the most talented personality, one of the most sought-after events of Mridang
7. Sutra - The mother of quizzing events covering all formats and spanning for 2 days
8. Akriti - Fine arts events
9. Arena – LAN gaming event
10. Anvesh - The treasure hunt (online and offline format)
11. Hurdang – Informals

Mumbai Festival
Mridang sounds interesting. Mumbai too has a cultural festival called the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. It is a street cultural festival that runs from Feb 4 to 12. The festival has events such as plays, films, dances, music, visual art, heritage walks, literature, book releases, workshops, food events, children's events and much more.
