Right when you think that you have successfully ducked the first one, the second bullet has already left the barrel. The engaging and grilling interviews take you on a whirlwind journey of Extracurriculars, which is a buy one get one offer for an MBA student. Is it a must? No. But is it essential? Certainly yes! Extracurriculars come as a part and parcel of our MBA life, and here at XUB, a completely student-driven body, we feel proud to have a vast array of extracurriculars ranging from Business Simulations to Sports and Cultural symphonies. But, all the glories apart, multitasking with these is a must, as 24 hours in a day just doesn’t seem enough.
Till now, we had hardly learnt to juggle between the two, when an exciting opportunity knocked our doors in the name of Xamboree – the annual Cultural-Management fest of XUB which is a unique chance for the young community to explore their talents and experience the diverse mindsets which the hallowed grounds of this campus has to offer. After all, rarely does one get a moment to not only engage students from various functions, be it marketing, talent or finance; but to interact through various events, in prudent subjects of rural, sustainable, and urban governance management, along with the plethora of cultural activities planned around the theme of the fest.
As the ship started to sail, our excitement levelled up multiple folds. Fasten your seatbelts, as Academics, ECA and Xamboree together, are about to take you on a roller-coaster ride. Right from bringing sponsorships and media partners, every student has something on his/her plate for Xamboree. Be it planning various events, their promotion, and formulating the star nights, the buzz for the fest is increasing multiple times.
Classes ending at 6, the regular extracurriculars and the planning for the fest, is all about our day when the college is filled with the vibes of Xamboree and there’s hardly any day that ends before 3 A.M. It’s like setting your feet in three different boats and trying not to fall off, because obviously, you don’t have a choice to fall.
But yes, juggling between the three is quite fun; as what we get to learn from this is, marketing, convincing, and above all, networking. Apart from books, we get a practical market exposure, an extensive range of network and yes, the huge amount of fun, which you surely cannot miss out on. Planning out events like Model United Nations, Business Simulations, Gaming battles and cultural fiestas, all you get is the ‘X-perience’ of planning and formulating events in the XUB way!
The energy increases when promotional events happen inside the campus. When we all get to see some flash-mobs and singing performances. All the buzz for the fest is making the campus seem energized, excited and all set to experience the night with Badshah, Aastha Gill and Baiju Dharmajan. XUB gives you the chance to hone your skills such as management, multi-tasking and compartmentalizing, which are a pre-requisite to what our future has in its bag. Initially, this humongous task seemed to be a bit daunting, but as we climb this mountain step by step, it all becomes about what’s waiting on the other side!
