The little things in life - Swetha S, IIM Visakhapatnam

Life always surprises us. It is made up of series of small events that get connected in a way to make us reach to the ultimate destination. when I stop and think back now everything is being interconnected. The decisions I made, the path I took has made me what I am today. I always wonder what it would be like when I took the alternate path.

One of the biggest challenges was to choose between my mind and heart. Almost in all matters, they don’t really get along. This will leave me in a dilemma most of the times. My mind most of the times thinks of all the practical solutions that are right for me and for the people around me. It urges me to do the thing that benefits me. It always goes by the rule book. Whereas my heart asks me to do the stuffs that I’ll be comfortable with. It chooses the one that makes me happy.  It always keeps me in the comfort zone. The question that is always with me is ‘what is that which decides who we are today?’

People will say that ‘follow your heart’ and it knows the path. The major decisions of my life like choosing the stream of study after 10^th standard, choosing the right college for myself, selecting the stream in which I should work for etc., is decided only after long discussions with myself. ‘No one knows you better than your own self’, they say. I am still learning to overcome the challenge of choosing the right choice in my life. We never know what is right until we feel it so from our heart. From choosing a perfect dress to major life decisions. I believe it always comes with practice and learning from experiences. One decision lead to the other and it leads to the other. It is okay to make mistakes, but it works magic only if we learn from them.
