It was the time of revolution in the telecom industry. Jio had entered the market with revolutionary prices. Neither the subscribers nor the telecom giants could believe what Jio did. Soon, every corporation brought down its prices to compete with Jio. All of these corporations started fighting the battle of market share.
My new and tiny city also received the benefits of the revolution. After the price reduction, if one consumer was using Airtel, other was using Jio. I was a Jio customer. I faced a problem. I was using 4G at a speed of 2G. I couldn't even download simple images shared on WhatsApp. Forget uploading. I tried different operators and tested their speeds in my area. Following were the speeds of different operators in one afternoon in my area:
Jio: 2 KBps
Airtel: 120 KBps
Vodafone: 250 KBps
BSNL: 100 KBps
Idea: 1.2 MBps
I, then, switched to Idea. It gave me a speed of more than the expensive WiFi connections subscribed by relatives.
I could watch videos on YouTube at 480p without buffering with seamless forward and backward in a video. I watched a lot of Inspirational and educational videos that brought me clarity. Idea had a major role in helping me find a purpose of life. My vision is to spread education in the nation. It can be said that Aditya Birla group has a contribution in helping me figure out the direction in which I should sail my ship of life.
Part B:
As I have already told you what my vision is and how ABG has a contribution to the foundation. I am sharing the journey I did till I am here in IMT Ghaziabad.
After completing 12th, I decided to pursue the CA course because of the high Return on Investment factor. It can be said that I was not mature enough, or I did not have the right guidance as to how a career needs to be chosen. Sure, ROI is a factor that is needed to be considered when deciding on the career. We can not let it be the only factor. Anyways, that is why I chose to pursue the CA course.
After several failures, I started getting second thoughts about this course. It was the time when the internet came into the picture. I was watching Sandeep Maheshwari videos, Sadhguru Youth and Truth, etc. I started meditating. I started asking myself the question, "what do you want to add to this world?"
In the meantime, when I was doing this introspection, I cleared one group of intermediate level. I got an articleship in a big name. Even after this taste of success after a series of failures, I was not content. Clearing a group and getting a brand name on my CV should have felt a relief in my career. Instead, it felt as if I am sinking in quicksand even deeper. It is not to demean a reputed course like CA or the articleship training. What I mean is, I could feel that if I pursue any longer, or if I clear one more step of the course, I would never be able to do what I wanted to.
Before switching my career from tax consulting industry to the Education industry, I wanted to be sure about that. I decided to drop the articleship and start as a small private teacher. I also planned "educating through social media." Convincing the family for that a bit difficult. They accepted the fact that not everyone can do CA, so let him quit, though it was nothing like that. Everything was going well. I was sure that I would work in the education industry, and I saw a dream to become a social entrepreneur.
Before expanding my little business called Learn With Anany, I felt a need for management education and experience. I decided to pursue a full-time MBA program. I applied to all the top colleges in India. I got a decent CAT score as well. Now, the biggest challenge that I faced was every institute was seeing me as a CA drop-out, private tutor, and an open learning undergraduate degree holder with less than 60% marks in that. It was definitely not what I expected. I wanted them to see the inspiration behind my acts, but may be I failed to do so.
I also tried a few universities in the USA. I got a huge offer, but due to health issues of my old parents, I could not accept that. I did not want to turn my back on that opportunity, but I had to. It was a big set-back.
Anyways, after a rejection or a waitlist from every college in India I applied, I finally got an admission in a new and small college. I was okay with that, given my profile. I was planning as to how I could make it big with not so good brand name. Meanwhile, I received an offer from IMT Ghaziabad for the PGDM marketing program. The waitlist of this college somehow cleared, unexpectedly.
That is how I got into IMT Ghaziabad, and now I am writing this article. Many people, whether they are the interviewer, committee recruiters, or friends, have told me that I should have continued CA for a better career. What do you think?
